VAN EYCK SUMMER DESIGN ACADEMY
THE DIGITAL CAMPFIRE series run together with DDG
Workshops: Design Displacement Group + Noviki
From 24 -30 August, 16 international graphic designers participated in the Van Eyck Summer Design Academy 2015 ‘The Digital vs. the Archaic’. During a weeklong course, they worked at the Charles Nypels Lab under the guidance of the Design Displacement Group, using all graphic design media from coding to RISO, from silkscreen to the use of vintage stencil machines.
Social media is fast becoming the campfire of today, the place where we gather. Our hectic lives freeze-frame around it, it is where we circle with friends, share and tell stories, exchange, inform, and new ideas arise. This digital campfire is where the old and the new meet – the Digital versus the Archaic.
