A century ago, Jan Tschichold published a manifesto that sought to reorder the world of letters. In time, he came to question many of its own assumptions.
That gesture becomes the starting point for Letters and Spirit. New Typography — a book that approaches typography not as a fixed set of rules, but as a space where technology, ideology, aesthetics, and imagination intersect.
A fragmentary essay is accompanied by contributions from Charlotte York, Formal Settings, Marian Misiak, Marcin Nowicki, Radim Peško, Stefan Lubiak and Tricia Treacy, together with thirteen stories exploring how letters shape the ways we think, remember, and communicate. No page numbers. Instead, reading time. Rather than proposing a new manifesto, the book invites readers to return to a fundamental question: what could a new typography be today?
