FILMLAVA AVANGARD FILM FESTIVAL
Edition 1: MAYA DEREN

Lava Avant-garde Film Festival is aimed at presenting the achievements of avant-garde filmmakers. Its inaugural edition will be devoted to the seminal figure of American avant-garde cinema – Maya Deren. All the festival events will be held from 13th to 14th May 2017 in Krakow.

2017 is the year we are celebrating two great anniversaries. One of them is the centenary of Polish avant-garde which beginning is considered to be the First Exhibition of Polish Expressionists opened at the headquarters of the Kraków Society of Friends of Fine Arts. This year marks also the centenary of the birth of Maya Deren – an outstanding representative of the world’s avant-garde cinema.

Maja Chiara Faber is the artistic director and initiator of the Lava Avant-garde Film Festival.

Festiwal Filmu Awangardowego Lava ma na celu prezentację dokonań twórców kina awangardowego. Jego inauguracyjna odsłona zostanie poświęcona pionierce amerykańskiej awangardy filmowej – Mai Deren. Wszystkie wydarzenia festiwalowe odbędą się w dniach 13 – 14 maja 2017 w Krakowie.
