NOVIKI as lead artists selected for this year’s edition of BMW Art Club 2024

We are pleased to announce our participation as the lead artists selected for this year’s edition of BMW Art Club: The Future is Art. This project, part of the BMW Drives Culture strategy, focuses on creating innovative artistic endeavors in collaboration with leading cultural institutions in Poland. The aim is to explore new ideas and solutions to contemporary challenges and visions of the future.

“Dream of the Machine,” an interdisciplinary artistic project by the NOVIKI studio, delves into archetypal visions of technology, comparing artificial intelligence dreams and human dreams. It starts with AI hallucinations—a phenomenon where algorithms generate responses that have no basis in the data they were fed. These hallucinations can take various forms, such as references to non-existent books, surreal images, or detailed descriptions of events that never took place.

Algorithmic hallucinations are often considered system errors. In the “Dream Of the Machine” project, we examine this phenomenon by comparing it to human dreaming.

The project will be realized in two locations in Kraków:

  • MOS Juliusz Słowacki Theatre (12 Rajska Street) – presentation of a film essay as a multimedia exhibition.
  • Garden of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre (4 Świętego Ducha Square) – a space revitalized according to the artists’ concept in collaboration with Kraków’s Grupa Robocza
