Ten Percent White
Ten Percent White
Exhibition identity
The exhibition “Ten Percent White” is an event that lays at the crossing of science and art. Its implementation was due to the cooperation between four artists, a CCA curator, as well as scientists from the Institute for Social Studies at the University of Warsaw.
The foundation for the ongoing ten week project was an attempt to create an interdisciplinary and experimental film team, in which artists represent various fields of art (architecture, music, visual art); they will work together on an idea for a joint project. The idea was to enable open work for a multi-threaded design, using the potential and interest of visual artists in a film format, while simultaneously modifying and transforming tools appropriate for it. The final, finished film production was initially a possibility, but not the main objective of the team’s collaboration. The creative exchange process between the artists was documented and concurrently analyzed by scientists, using tools from the field of science, such as analysis of social networks, qualitative and quantitative analysis of the group process; they were trying to grasp, how the work of the team self-organizes itself around works of art and how its ultimate effect emerges.
The exhibition at the CCA potrays the processing momen of the teams cooperation as well as their ideas that arose during this time, leading to a more and more specific idea of the film, entitled “Ten Percent of White.”
